MY APPROACH

My Approach to Therapy:

I identify as an eclectic therapist, in that I draw from various modalities to meet my clients’ unique needs. Staying person-centered is important in my work, as I feel that empathy and authenticity are two of my greatest strengths as a clinician. Being person-centered also means that I aim to work towards the goals that feel most important to each individual.

With my background and training in art therapy, I’m able to offer art making as a creative and hands-on tool to facilitate the therapeutic process. As an artist, I feel that I am able to be especially creative and flexible within the therapeutic environment, and approach problems through a distinct lens.

As a former collegiate athlete, I can relate to the pressure to perform in various areas of life. I also know what it feels like to have difficulty listening to your body, and I have spent time learning to trust myself after many years of being coached and overlooking my body’s needs. I hope to help my clients listen more deeply to the innate wisdom that lives inside all of us.

More About What to Expect in Therapy with Me:

In the therapy space, I strive to create an environment in which you can feel free to be your authentic self. I know that reaching out for support can be daunting, so I aim to build a therapeutic relationship that feels warm and compassionate.

I want therapy to be your time to focus on your needs and dive into your unique story. Creating a collaborative relationship is important to me, and I welcome any feedback that will help me understand your needs.

When appropriate, I will challenge you to rewire patterns of thought and behavior that may no longer be serving you. I hope to help you get the most out of your relationships with others, as well as your relationship with yourself.

I am a great fit for individuals that are looking to connect more deeply with a sense of self. I enjoy walking alongside you while you navigate difficult life transitions, process past traumas, explore your relationships, and learn effective skills to manage your anxieties. No topics are off the table or “too much” during our time together.

What I am Doing to Grow as a Therapist:

As a life long learner, I am committed to attending trainings to stay up to date with best practices, as well as to meet my clients’ specific needs. I have especially enjoyed attending trainings through The Center for Mind-Body Medicine, workshops focused on trauma informed interventions and building resilience, as well as a recent panel exploring the evolution of cultural identity of various art therapists in the field. I have completed a training focused on best practices for treating anxiety and OCD.
